Cleaning and Disinfection for Dog Areas

If you have dogs inside your house, you know how difficult it can be to keep everything clean, especially when they need to sleep indoors. The odors can become a problem, and although you may have gotten used to them, your family and friends will notice when they visit.

Products to Improve Odor and Hygiene Inside the House

First of all, I want to share a tip that works great for me. There’s a product that isn’t cheap, but it helps a lot inside the house. What it does is eliminate odors, and its effect is like menthol. You just spray a couple of doses, and it completely eliminates the dog smells. It’s amazing, especially for the inside of the house, where the smell can sometimes become an issue.

Ozone Disinfection: A Simple and Effective Trick

For disinfection, especially in the areas where the dogs sleep, we use a small device that releases ozone. This little gadget is easy to use and highly effective. You plug it in, set a timer, and it starts releasing ozone. This device kills bacteria you can’t see, disinfecting everything effectively. It also leaves a scent similar to that of a swimming pool. I leave it plugged into the dog areas, and it not only eliminates bacteria but also gets rid of any unwanted bugs in the air.

What’s great about this device is that you can also use it in your car. If you have dogs in the car and the smell becomes unbearable, ozone will leave the car smelling fantastic.

Homemade Products for Disinfecting Outdoor Areas

Now let’s move on to the outdoors. When you have dogs in the garden, especially if you have multiple, it’s important to disinfect the areas where they pee or poop. We used to use a product called Total, which was very good, but now we use a homemade mixture that I think is much more effective. It consists of mixing one cup of cleaning vinegar, one cup of bleach, and two or three parts of water. We put this mixture in a garden sprayer and use it to disinfect the areas where the dogs relieve themselves. What I do is “spray” the area with this solution, and it works wonders. We also use a device like a “litro” (sprayer) to disinfect the area where the dogs are.

The Importance of Disinfection

I know this isn’t the most exciting topic for many, but it’s incredibly important. Disinfection is just as crucial as personal hygiene. Dogs, just like humans, need a clean environment to avoid infections. I’ve seen cases where dogs have rashes, fungi, and other issues due to lack of hygiene and disinfection in their areas. In fact, when you have more than one dog, if you don’t maintain cleanliness, it can turn into a serious health problem. Dogs need to be in a clean environment, and that goes beyond just feeding them or showing them affection.

Continuous Care and Respect for Dogs

Food, breathing, and hygiene are essential aspects of any dog’s health. It’s not just about bathing or brushing them but also keeping their spaces clean. And when it comes to affection, it’s what gives a dog stability and happiness. If a dog is taught to live in a clean and well-maintained space, it will be much happier and healthier.

Conclusion

In conclusion, cleaning and disinfection are vital for any dog owner. Whether using commercial products like the ozone device or homemade remedies with vinegar and bleach, keeping your dog’s areas clean is essential for their well-being. It’s also important to remember that while dogs can be very good and balanced, we always need to educate them properly and create a clean and safe environment for them.

I hope these tips have been helpful.
